The Web Chart Service generates an actual portrayal of the geographic information and sends it as images directly to your end-user mapping application.

Flexibility is available to view the chart information and also query the content about more specific details. Easy functionality is available to zoom and pan around in the chart. The service comes with a range of predefined presentation styles to quickly enable users to present information in accordance with international chart standards. More advanced users have the opportunity to define presentation styles for organizing what chart information will be displayed with a choice of colours and symbols in accordance with operational needs.

Advanced use of transparency enables easy integration with other types of geographical information in one display. The Web Chart Service can easily be integrated with content from other internal geographic databases or other mapping services on the internet. Chart information can be displayed in a range of projections and datums to ensure easy integration with other geographic information. This will improve operational analysis and decision support within your organisation.

The Web Chart Service is available 24/7 and does not require specific hardware or software to access or display the chart content.  Any application or web browser supporting the Web Map Service (WMS) standard can easily access and use the service. Advanced charting or mapping users will have such functionality built into their geographic information systems or can freely download it as open source software on internet.

The PRIMAR Web Chart Service is available only to government organizations.

The service is not to be used for navigational purposes!
